SJ Week 10 – Death of Door Knocking

I love San José and I love the mission. We are still pretty quarantined, but it’s actually good and we are as busy as ever. A lot of what we are hearing Church and Mission leaders makes it seem like the Church is looking to never go back to knocking doors. Our mission is gonna put together a technology committee and the way we do missionary work obviously has needed to change, but it might be for the best. I’m sure I’ll never knock doors again, but maybe I’ll be one of the last ones who did knock doors haha. We will see what happens, it’s pretty exciting.

We had a pretty normal week this week. We are trying to figure out how to work on Facebook, so we are making videos for our ward Facebook page and local pages here in San Jose. We haven’t had much success so far, but it’s something we just all need to adjust to. It’s fun doing something different. We are teaching a bunch of lessons. We are working more with members than I ever have. We had a cool experience this week where we were able to teach this part-member family in person. It brought back so many memories as we pulled up some dinky chairs outside and started teaching non-members about who we are and why we were there. It was a cool experience and was super fun to do again.

We had a good Zone Training Meeting this week! Its always fun to get together with our zone and to be able to do things in person. I gave a little workshop about working effectively that went well. There’s a lot of missionaries who are still trying to figure it out, but we have a good zone.

Sadly, this was probably our last week with the Altima. We went to the mission office and saw 29 new Rav4s there. So that’s probably what we will be driving next week! Which will also be sick haha. But, we will have the computer which makes driving less fun.

We made a little Bingo card to help members participate in missionary work, and we promised them banana bread if they got bingo! So we’ve been cooking up some nice banana bread.

I had Mission Leadership Conference this week. Sadly still though Zoom. We are hoping to have Zone Conferences and stuff soon in person, but we will see. Everyday we are using are phones for calls/meetings/planning for 8ish hours. Pretty crazy.

I love the Book of Mormon. We talked to a member this week who read the Book of Mormon in 9 days this week. He said he saw huge changes in every aspect of his life, with his wife, family, work, and so many other things. And he said the only change that was made was reading the Book of Mormon. I know it’s true and I know that we need it every day. Read it! It’ll change your life.I love my Savior. I love my Heavenly Father. I’m happy and so grateful for all that I’ve learned. Excited for another week of work. I love you all and I’m so grateful for you. Lemme know if there’s ever anything you guys need.
